When you are choosing eyeshadow, think of the color wheel.
If you have blue, green, or hazel eyes, choose a color that falls on the opposite side of the color wheel from the color of your iris.
If you want an eyeshadow that is within the same color range as your eyes, select a shade lighter than your eyes and lay on the eyeliner and mascara.
Here’s some specific colors to try:
Light, neutral tones in grays and browns, as well as orange, pink, and purple. Avoid the dark, smoky look.
Brown or earth tones are great, as well as burgundy, maroon, peach, purple, and plum (my favorite!)
Hazel eyes blends with many shades. Neutral colors, such as browns, work well, as do blues. Hazel also pairs well with the metallic, such as Timeout4me’s coppers and golds.
Brown eyes go with just about any color. Match your outfit, the occasion, or the season. Even brown works. Try greens, pinks, olives, bronzes, and golds.
