Facial Scrub Additives For Different Skin Needs

I've recently created a facial scrub that can be converted into a hand/body scrub.  The versatility of this scrub is wonderful, but even more wonderful is what they do for my face and hands.  I wanted to explain the various additives available, so you can order just the perfect scrub...or at least be more informed about what you are putting on your body.

Facial Scrub

Here are the additives you can put into your facial scrub:

Calendula (dried marigold)—used to disinfect minor wounds and to treat infections of the skin. The antibacterial and immunostimulant properties of the plant make it extremely useful in treating slow-healing cuts and cuts in people who have compromised immune systems. The herb stimulates the production of collagen at wound sites and minimizes scarring and reduces pain. It’s also known for its ability to brighten skin and protect from blemishes.

Ground Coffee—Can be used to scrub away dead skin to reveal the new, healthy skin underneath. Exfoliating with coffee grounds improves circulation, leaving you with smooth, glowing skin. The caffeine from coffee grounds can also temporarily reduce the appearance of cellulite and give your skin a firmer appearance.

Ground Grade 1 Lavender--great for the skin. Some of its skin benefits include that of being antiseptic and anti-fungal which helps to reduce scarring and speeds healing. This means you will have fewer acne breakouts and infections. Lavender also reduces skin redness and blotchyness of the complexion. Your skin looks more evenly colored.

Green Zeolite clay—My No. 1 clay for oily, acne skin. This clay draws out oils, adds abrasion, and customers swear it clears their acne.

Lemon Peel Powder—provides a wonderfully mild lemon scent, gentle exfoliation, and a yellow tint to the scrub.

Ground Oatmeal-- creates a barrier over the skin, making it a great additive for those with extra dry skin. It also helps to alleviate itchiness.Oatmeal is well known for its softening properties. Ground oatmeal in this mask will gently exfoliate and smooth your skin. If your skin is combination, prone to breakouts, clogs, dryness, flakes and/or redness, ground oatmeal is a great remedy. It will leave your skin soft and healthy.

Rose Clay--considered a mild Kaolin Clay that is commonly used to clean and purify the skin. It has mild exfoliating powers and like all clays, helps to detoxify the skin by drawing impurities from pores.

White Pumice--This powder does a very good job of exfoliating and evening out dull/dry skin, yet it doesn't feel rough or scratchy during the scrubbing.

Here are the additives you can put into your hand/body scrub:

Activated charcoal-- combats pollutants that our skin comes into contact with on a daily basis, as well as draws out impurities that could potentially lead to premature signs of aging. It leaves your face feeling cool, soft, and clean.

Poppy Seeds—for a little extra exfoliation, try poppy seeds. They also help relieve dry and itchy skin.

Shredded Loofah—Scrubs away dead skin to reveal healthy skin underneath.

Ground Rose Petals-- Rose has been used for centuries in skin care.Rose petals contain carotene, B group vitamins and vitamin K.The petals of this beautiful flower are not only soothing, but also contain a good amount of vitamin C. Rose petals will smooth, tone and moisturize dry, sensitive skin. Bacteria die within five minutes when contacted with fresh rose petals which makes rose a perfect medicine for fighting skin diseases. Fresh rose petals will help cure wounds and burns; they can also help in healing allergic itchy skin.

Oatmeal and Rose Petals –see above for individual ingredients. The combination provides extra foliation and a nice scent blend.
