Natural dog shampoo recipe
3 cups distilled water
½ cup distilled white vinegar
1 Tablespoon of organic coconut oil
10 Tablespoons Dr. Bronner’s liquid soap
3-4 drops of lavender essential oil
3-4 drops of rosemary essential oil
Mix all the above ingredients together, preferably with a hand mixer. It should have the look and consistency of thick milk or a light cream. Put it into squeeze bottles and label it so you don’t have to scratch your head later over what it might be.
Reduce the amount of lavender or rosemary essential oil if your dog finds the smell objectionable.
The coconut oil provides moisturizer for the dog’s fur, and the rosemary reduces itching. Lavender is soothing, and the vinegar cuts through dirt. If you want more lather (which does have to be rinsed out), add more Dr. Bronner’s.
Cats should never have essential oils applied to their fur. This shampoo is ONLY for dogs.
